Testing of USB controllers has been done by Aptina and can be found here. We're using the same USB chipset so results ought to be similar.

Avoid ASMedia and Fresco Logic. Best option is Intel, works 100%. I will compile a list of verified USB controllers (cards/motherboards) once I get back from vacation.
