It's been a while but finally here it is, the new .77 release. There's many changes under the hood so let us know if there's anything troubling. This round covers primarily bug-fixing, improved run-time efficiency and better tracking in some situations.

Download available at your account page.

Update: Potential compatibility issue with PyGaze reported. Bug in PyTribe (invalid json) needs to be resolved. Please use version 0.9.56 until it's fixed.

EyeTribe Server
- Optimized tracking algorithms for faster recovery
- Improved image processing routines for faster and more precise detection of eye features
- Reduced CPU consumption, fewer spikes
- Pull request has been deprecated, Push is mandatory and selected automatically for new connections
- Heartbeats have been deprecated (still supported). Client connections will not be disconnected if heartbeats are not sent to the server
- API ID has been added (optional). The ID is simply echoed in the reply if it’s available with the request. The ID has been introduced for synchronization purposes.

EyeTribe UI for Windows
- Showing Frames Per Second in title bar of APIConsole (avg over 1000ms)
- Fixed memory leak in APIConsole
- Fixed bug for calibration point sampling duration (TETControls) did not respect setting applied in application.
- Fixed additional minor bugs in TETControls and C# TETClient. Source code will be pushed to Github repo shortly.
Statistics: Posted by skataMartin — 04 May 2016, 00:18

This time we are bumping the version number from 0.9.41 to 0.9.49, there's been a couple of candidates that never made it. Mac version got a great deal of focus, now that OSX is working we return to Windows. The newest version contains a number of improvement across the board. Lower resource utilization, improved stability, better eye tracking performance. We've also made some improvements to the SDKs and samples found on our GitHub.

You can get the new version at the download page (login required).

Change log:

EyeTribe Server
- Improved one-eye tracking
- Improved network stability
- Lower CPU utilization and latency
- Fixed crash when device was connected to a USB 2.0 port at startup
- Server executable is now digitally signed
- Faster response time when calibrating with feedback-reporting

EyeTribe UI
- Updated to .Net 4.0 framework, no longer requires activation of legacy framework on Windows 8.
- Optimized the graphical look of target for optimal fixation based on a publication by Thaler et al (2013) “What is the best fixation target? The effect of target shape on stability of fixational eye movements”
- Improved built-in calibration stability, added the option for selecting the transition time between points (e.g. animation speed).
- Added dialog to reconfigure and restart server from UI (e.g. change frame-rate etc.), found under the Systems tab.
- Added keyboard shortcuts to perform basic operations, the hot-keys are:
Shift-C, start calibration
Shift-M, enable/disable mouse cursor redirect
- Added option in config file to enable/disable auto-starting of the server, located in tetbasicsettings.xml. Corresponding tag is <ServerAutoStart>True</ServerAutoStart>
- Minor UI updates, fixed calibration area size text fields, values are reset when selecting the same monitor again. Reworked the demo-mode flow and logic.
- Overall stability improvements and performance optimizations (minor)
- Updated to run with latest C# SDK (client, trackbox & calibrationrunner)
Statistics: Posted by skataMartin — 06 Dec 2014, 00:47

We are proud to announce the first beta release (v0.9.39) of The Eye Tribe Tracker SDK for OS X. The software package contains two modules: the EyeTribe Server and the EyeTribe UI.

The EyeTribe Server is in charge of starting the hardware device and providing eye tracking information through a TCP socket. Client applications can connect to the Server using this socket and get the stream of gaze coordinates.

The EyeTribe UI is provided as a sample application and allows you to start the eye tracking engine, calibrate the system to your eyes, and control the mouse cursor with your eye movements.

The Objective-C SDK will be available on our GitHub in the coming days.

The current version of The Eye Tribe Tracker for OS X is in beta. We have identified the following known issues, which will be fixed in a future release:
- The eye tracker device must be plugged in the USB 3.0 port before starting the EyeTribe Server, otherwise it will not be recognized
- The EyeTribe Server needs to be started before launching the EyeTribe UI, otherwise the EyeTribe UI might crash
- The server currently supports framerates up to 30 Hz. 60 Hz will be supported in a later release

The Eye Tribe Tracker for OS X v0.9.39 has been tested on Mac Mini and MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9. If you experience issues or have feedback please report it on the Issues and Troubleshooting - OSX forum.
Statistics: Posted by skataJavier — 28 Jun 2014, 11:54
