Hi Ryklin,

Sorry for the delay, I've created a bug-report the developer of the C++ client to take a look at. Hi everyone,

I'm following up from my earlier post. Having burned a lot of time on additional testing, I discovered that on my three systems (win7, win8.1 and Win10) the latest SDK - TheEyeTribeSDK-0.9.77-x86.exe does indeed NOT disconnect from the eye tracker properly as indicated below. I do not recommend using this SDK. Instead I reverted to EyeTribeSDK-0.9.56-x86, which works fine.

Also, very important, the latest tet-cpp-client on github dated May 18, 2016 doesn't work at all (no connection to tracker). I recommend you do not waste your time on this. I am using the Dec 10, 2014 revision (notably commented as "Fixed occational exception when disconnected from the GazeAPI..."

I will try to do some more debugging, but this is a huge time drain!!!

BTW I did compile against Boost 1_57 on Win7 with VS2013 and Boost 1_61_0 (the latest) on Win10 with VS2015 Community. I am compiling using the 32 Bit libraries (not 64).

If someone gets a chance, please write back with any supporting information!!!
Statistics: Posted by skataryklin — 12 Sep 2016, 18:28

Today I discovered that the eyetribe sdk version TheEyeTribeSDK-0.9.77-x86.exe is hanging on the function call m_api.disconnect()

I am runing Win10 64 Bit. Connects and streams data fine but hangs on disconnect.

Can anyone else verify?

Next I downloaded the latest tet-cpp-client from github updated on May 18th, recompiled my source and now it won't even connect to the eye tracker. This time it's failing to connect to the socket in the file gazeapi_socket.cpp in the while() on line 63 while( error && endpoint_iterator != end ) the error value returned is 10061, that's all I can make sense out of.

I am going to revert to an earlier sdk version and follow up.

If anyone has any info or can at least verify some/all of this I'd appreciate it!

BTW the server and UI work fine. I haven't tried samples written in other languages, presumably they are fine, and my USB connection is fine too -- I tested with two different eye trackers and 2 different cables on 3 different computers.
Statistics: Posted by skataryklin — 11 Sep 2016, 22:45

Hi again,

I have found this in the API documentation:

"A client must send heartbeat packets to the server in order to maintain an active connection, otherwise the server does not answer".

There is no heartbeat at all in the provided example. I have added my own heartbeat but it does not work. The leds in front of the tracker switch off after a couple of seconds, which means it is not sending any data back to the server. I think the missing heartbeat could be the problem.

Any ideas? Please provide any help on this.

Regards,
Leandro
Statistics: Posted by skatalstefanazzi@uns.edu.ar — 28 Jun 2016, 00:47

Hi all,

I am new to EyeTribe. I wish to develop a windows app to connect with the EyeTracker. I downloaded the API and Boost, and everything is compiling well under Microsoft Visual Studio 2015. However, it is like the tracker is not working because I ask for coordinates and everything is 0. The callback on_gaze_date is never called.

One more weird thing: if I launch the shipped client before running my own app, I get some coordinates different from 0, however, numbers don't change and remain the same.

Please help me on debugging this.

Thanks in advance,

Leandro
Statistics: Posted by skatalstefanazzi@uns.edu.ar — 24 Jun 2016, 13:25

The 'time' field is a integer representation of when a frame was sampled in the EyeTribe Server. The 'time' is platform and architecture specific (Windows, macOS, Android) and therefore does not easily translate into a string representation. Therefore there is a dedicated field for the string representation called 'timestamp'. This is explained in the API doc.

The 'time' field increments as time passes and should be used to calculate the delta time between incoming frames.

The 'timestamp' field will be added to the C++ SDK in the next release.
Statistics: Posted by skataAnders — 14 Jun 2016, 12:15

Cmake creates several build targets besides the user defined ones. The 'all', 'install', and 'zero' are such targets, and are utility targets that neither turn into executables nor libraries on their own.

As the name suggests making the GazeApiLib target yields a library, a static one. Build the install target in debug and release and link against the produced .lib in your own projects.
Statistics: Posted by skataMicky — 08 Apr 2016, 09:05

I finally got around to look into the issue.
There's an internal network deadlock issue that stalls the thread in a send_sync call. The method never terminates because the expected reply message from the server is never received, due to the thread is stalled.
Temporarily, the problem can be fixed using async send to update the internal states that is triggered by server changed notifications.
Statistics: Posted by skataMicky — 03 Dec 2015, 14:09
